Clean Energy Ministerial (CEM)9 Award

Exciting news came in the middle of this year, where our company shone again in the international arena with the award of Excellence in Energy Management by UP Gresik. The award which given by the Clean Energy Ministerial (CEM) is the highest award in the 2018 Energy Management Leadership Award held in Copenhagen, Denmark (24/5). PT PJB, represented by Sugiyanto as Director of Operations-1, was one of three recipients of the award, along with An Garda Síochána from Ireland, and PJSC Magnitogorsk Iron & Steel Works from Russia. On the same occasion, PT PJB UP Paiton also received an Energy Management Insight Award. Forward of Excellence in Energy Management received by UP Gresik was an appreciation for the company’s efforts in transforming energy use in the organization. To qualify as an awardee, the company must be able to do a number of things, including implementing an energy management system that has passed international certification with the ISO 50001 standard, making process summaries and benefits from the results obtained, and sending case studies for analysis. The winners were determined by an independent panel consisting of international level experts. PT PJB UP Gresik passed as a winner because it had implemented the ISO 50001 standard so that it was able to save US $ 9.69 million and reduce CO2 emissions by 2.72 million metric tons in the last 3 years “This achievement is the result of the hard work of all elements in the PT PJB generating unit which continues to promote energy efficiency. PT PJB is committed to continuously evaluating and optimizing the energy management system in all generating units so that it can provide business excellence while contributing to environmental preservation, “said Sugiyanto. The CEM award program emphasizes the benefits in terms of energy, environment and business achieved by the company after investing in energy efficiency. Collectively, 50 organizations participating in the award have saved energy production costs of US $ 383 million and reduced CO2 emissions by 4.3 million metric tons or the amount of emissions from 916,000 motorized vehicles. Christian Zinglersen, Head of Clean Energy Ministerial, stated that It was very happy to see the many companies participating in the Energy Management Leadership Award. Zinglersen added that he highly appreciated the efforts made and hoped that the achievement of PT PJB could inspire other energy companies to move in the same direction.
